Postmark & Historical Context Postmark: This postal stationery card is uncancelled and bears no postmark. It was issued in late 1963 for the 1964 New Year holiday season. Historical Context for 1963: This card was issued during the martial law period in Taiwan under the Kuomintang (KMT) government. The slogan, "Increase production to strengthen power, practice thrift and economy," reflects the government's focus on economic development and self-sufficiency during this era. This was a period of land reform and the beginning of Taiwan's rapid industrialization, often referred to as the "Taiwan Miracle." The card combines this national economic message with the powerful symbol of the dragon for the upcoming Lunar New Year of 1964, the Year of the Dragon.
