Item Description
METER STAMP Postal History: TWO; first mailed with 2c meter, (Type #CA1.1.), mailed July 7 1936 and intended for local delivery, but the recipient had gone to a hotel in Chicago, so remailed with additional 1c stamp (#632), cnl Jul 8 1938 machine cnl, sent to the Fargo Hotel with interesting "Corner Greenview and Fargo" notation, finally returned with Pointing Finger notation, colorful, next is 1.5c meter stamp, (Type #HC1.1.), mailer set this for 1 1/2c but apparently needed first class postage so 1.5c Prexie added (#805) and tied by Church St mute oval, window envelope, mailed from 63 Park Row with Guarding Free Enterprise Since 1827 slogan, good shape, ca late 40s, this cover was in a major prexie collection for many years, just some machine cancels on reverse of the Cleveland cover, pencil mark on the other; nice shape on both, Fine-VFI combine shipping. Just ask.
