Item Description
The Claude C. Ries Chapter of the AFDCS celebrates every Spring with a Luau-themed get-together. The Poi and Pineapple Smoothies flow freely and a good time is had by all.An event cover always celebrates our camaraderie with a tie-in to one of the current stamp issues . . and 2019's cover bears two of the recent Coral Reef postcard rate stamps, as well as a concordant 15¢ stamp from 1980 featuring the Elkhorn Coral.
This cachet - saluting the ninth annual incarnation of the Ries Luau - features our mermaid hostess for the event, Ms. Alvetia E., displaying her prized Coral Pineapple, joined by the ever-present roast pig mascot of the Luau as he snorkels up for a closer look!
The stamps are cancelled with a facsimile postmark for the date and location of the Luau.
We all woke up to inclimate weather the morning of the Luau, so the reverse bears an added-on label declaring this 2019 version 'The Coldest, Wettest Luau Ever!'
