Item Description
United States, Scott #3385, used(o), 2000, Images from the Hubble Space Telescope: the Ring Nebula in the northern constellation; the Hubble Space Telescope is a space telescope that was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990 and remains in operation; it was not the first space telescope, but it is one of the largest and most versatile, renowned both as a vital research tool for astronomy; the Hubble allows us to see objects more clearly because it is above the clouds in Earth's atmosphere; nebulae are enormous clouds of dust and gas occupying the space between stars representing what remains from the extinction of an old start and acts as a nursery for new stars; the Ring Nebula is 2,283 light years from earth and has a radius of 1.3 light years; it is estimated to be about 7,000 years old; 33 cents, photogravure printed, perforated: 11, no watermark, multicolored, Scott 2019 Catalog Value: 25¢, nicely centered, double strike cancels, both, light, black-inked, single-rimmed, quarter circular, socked-on-the-nose corner cancellations, one on the lower left and the second on the lower right, and both largely clear of the main image, stamp also has retained its perforation guideline on its right edge from the printing and perforation process, sound back, good perforations. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.30 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.58 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
