Item Description
United States, Scott #4569, used(o), 2011, Celebrating the Art of Romare Bearden (1911-1988); stamp shows his paper collage ‘Falling Star’ executed in 1979 and presently at the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia; painting shows an black-American woman at routine household chores, not her ‘star’ role in life; he is considered one of the most important American artists of the 20th century; his artwork depicted African American culture and experience in creative and thought-provoking ways; he has worked with many types of media including cartoons, oils, and, most prominently in collages; his most important works work focused on unity and cooperation within the African-American community; issued as a forever stamp in a pane of four works by the artist, each with an individual counter value of (44 cents), photogravure printed by Avery Dennison; serpentine die cut simulated perforations: 10¾, issued with non-water soluble self-adhesive gum; multicolored; Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 40¢, nicely centered (superb), light, vertical, black-inked, wavy line cancel down the painting image on the stamp, the lightness of the cancel leaves the main image remarkably clear, good perforation; stamp was lifted from the mailing envelope by using a Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black card stock for an attractive album appearance with other stamps similarly prepared; centering, mounting, and largely image free cancellation warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.73 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
