Item Description
United States, Scott #5541 (Michel #5778BD)(Yvert&Tellier #5387(Stanley Gibbons #6155), used(o), 2020, Winter Scenes Holiday Issue, stamp shows a scene from a photograph 'Mike and Burt, the Belgian Draft Horses' by Lisa Lacasse, a landscape and nature professional photographer from Vermont, to expand on the theme of the stamp, we see a pair of draft horses pulling a sleigh through the snow; before modern roads, motor vehicles, and snow clearing methods, people relied on sleighs and draft horses to travel in snowy conditions; today, we have plenty of options for winter travel; however, there are still plenty of scenic winter sleigh tours available across the northern United States; riding through the snow while listening to the gentle ringing of sleigh bells is something everyone should experience to get into the holiday spirit; issued in a booklet of twenty stamps in 10 different images as a (55¢) forever stamp, serpentine die cut simulated perforations at scale: 10¾, non-water soluble self-adhesive, offset lithography printed by Ashton Potter USA (APU), stamp is one of two internal stamps from the lower row of the booklet, imperforated at the bottom, perforated at the sides and top (PPIP), only two of the twenty stamps so configured, Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 40¢, nicely centered (superb), double strike canceled, both very light, circular, red-inked, double-rimmed, socked-on-the-nose cancellations, the main, a half circular, quarter counter-clockwise turned, cancel over most of the top right two-thirds of the stamp, the second, and much smaller, a half circle touch cancel on the lower border, the lightness of both cancels leaves the main image largely clear, good perforations, stamp was lifted from its mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black card stock for an attractive and uniform album appearance with other stamps from the period similarly mounted; centering, mounting, and largely clear cancel warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.73 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
