Item Description
United States, Scott #5670, used(o), 2022, Issue Honoring the 50th Anniversary of Title IX; the amendment to the Civil Rights Act of 1965 that protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs; institutions must operate their educational programs in a non-discriminatory manner free from discrimination based on sex, which includes sexual orientation and gender identity; key area for review are: recruitment, admissions, counseling, financial assistance, athletics, and sex-based harassment, which includes sexual assault, sexual violence, treatment of pregnant and parenting students, and treatment of LGBTQI+ students; a program with positive results, most notably the increase in the numbers of women participating in sports, but with major non-intended consequences such as the decline in the number of male-oriented sports activities to achieve numerical balances, to problems with the agreeable blending of transgender students into existing programs, Title IX is a classic example of a program with high ideals but with great difficulty in implementation that Americans are trying to get right; issued as a forever stamp at an individual counter value of (58 cents) in panels of 20 stamps for the four themes (five rows of four each) in the issue: track, swimming, gymnastics, and soccer; this stamp focuses on gymnastics with the left profile of a female gymnast with hair braids and yellow laurel branch ties symbolizing victory), non-water soluble self adhesive gum, offset lithography printed by Ashton Potter USA (APU), serpentine die cut simulated perforations at scale: 10¾; Scott 2025 catalog value: 30¢. Nicely centered (superb), black-inked, horizontal, close interval, wavy line cancellation over the top half of the stamp, good perforations, stamp was lifted from its mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black cardstock to provide an attractive and uniform album appearance with other stamps from the period similarly mounted; centering and mounting warrant a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.78 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176). Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
