Item Description

SCV $1.00 (2020). Single, entire 14-cent first day cancellation (FDC) postal card commemorating George Wythe. No flaws noted. The card is stiff with no creases or bent corners. The card is clean with no stray marks. Its color is bright and the Artmaster cachet is distinct & clear with drawings of George Wythe House, the House of Burgesses in Williamsburg, Virginia and a profile cameo of George Wythe all in bright apple green ink. The first day cancellation mark was issued at "WILLIAMSBURG, VA 23185" & dated "JUN 20 1985". The cancellation mark reads "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" in black ink between two sets of parallel, horizontal bars. The back side of the postal card (i.e. the message side) has a printed biography of George Wythe.
