Item Description
This charming New Year’s postcard, dated January 1st, 1911, was sent from Montevideo to San Gregorio in Polanco del Río Negro, a small locality in the interior of Uruguay. The message is written in Spanish and French, with a colorful embossed illustration of a child in traditional attire. The stamp is cancelled with a Montevideo postmark, and the card bears a second clear reception marking from Tacuarembó with the distinctive letter K, which corresponds to the regional postal routing used at the time. The combination of elegant multilingual holiday wishes, rural destination, and well-struck dual postmarks makes this an excellent piece for thematic collectors focusing on early 20th-century rural Uruguayan postal routes, New Year greetings, or postal markings by department.
