Scarce Vintage US (Circa 1903–1910) Charity Poster Stamp 1 Cent The German Teachers' Seminary In Milwaukee MNH Crazed Gum Representative Common Backer For All Stamps Of This Issue.

This Poster Stamp Was Issued Between 1903 And 1910 In Support Of The Deutsche Lehrer-Seminar In Milwaukee, A German Teachers’ Seminary Operated By The Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Church. The Stamp Features A Central Illustration Of The Seminary’s Main Building, Completed In 1903 At 13th And Vine Streets In Milwaukee, Rendered In Deep Red Ink With Detailed Architectural Elements. It Is Framed By Ornamental Green And Gold Columns And Bears The Text “Für Das Deutsche Lehrer-Seminar In Milwaukee” (For The German Teachers’ Seminary In Milwaukee), Along With A “1 Cent” Denomination In Decorative Shields On Either Side. The Use Of Gothic Revival Lettering And Medieval-Inspired Design Reflects German-American Aesthetics Of The Early 20th Century. Intended As A Fundraising Label, This Stamp Was Likely Part Of A Campaign To Support The Seminary’s Expansion Or Operational Needs Shortly After The Building’s Construction.
