Item Description

Sheet of fifteen (73-cent) stamps commemorating the Battles of the American Revolution in MNH, F-VF condition. The stamps are in post office fresh condition, so no flaws noted. The die cuts are fully intact (i.e. no separations or folds are noted), the stamps are crisp & their colors are bright. The sheet of stamps depict (in left-to-right, top-to-bottom order) the following battles: present day Lexington-Concord battle site (SC #5977a), patriots routing Red Coats at Lexington-Concord (SC #5977b & 5977c), patriots facing Red Coats at Bunker Hill (SC #5977d & 5977e), present day Bunker Hill Monument (SC #5977f), present day Trenton battle site (SC #5977g), patriots advancing in the snow (SC #5977h & 5977i), Red Coat surrendering sword to patriots at Saratoga (SC #5977j & 5977k), present day Saratoga battle site (SC #5977l), present day Yorktown battle site (SC #5977m) and Red Coat surrender at Yorktown (SC #5977n & 5977o). A short description of each of the five battles is printed on the back of the sheet of stamps. The stamps are surrounded by selvage, plate number 'B1111' is printed horizontally below two of the stamps located at the bottom row (i.e. the leftmost & rightmost stamps) and bar code number '486300' is printed vertically on the back of the right selvage. Photogravure, self-adhesive gum, tagged, serpentine die cut 10¾.
