U.S. 8 Civil War Era Revenue Stamps Used

These stamps were authorized by Congress in August 1861.
Their purpose, of course, was to help pay for the war. Everything they could think of was taxed, except such things as clothing and food.
The item being taxed is noted on the stamp.
The war debt wasn't paid off until the 1870's.
The Bi-colored 25 cent stamp is from the 2nd Issue of these revenue stamps, issued in 1871
These stamps are original, not copies or reprints!
These stamps are 160+ years old, so they are survivors.
A couple of the stamps have faults. The 1 cent is clipped at age top. The 25 cent "Insurance" is missing some perf.'s on the left and the 50 cent "Original Process" has a cut cancel.
Very Historic and Great for Framing!
