Item Description
Mailed from Brooklyn, NY to Miami Beach. See scans for centering and condition.The Railroad Express Agency was the UPS/Fedex of the late 19th to early 20th centuries specializing in parcels carried by rail. When an item was not delivered, a postcard was sent to explain the reason. By the mid 20th century competition from other express carriers, the USPS and the demise of passenger trains chipped away at the REA's business. By 1975, the company declared bankruptcy.
