Scarce unused 2¢ green Washington postal stationery envelope (Scott U67a) featuring a bold printed Wells, Fargo & Co. Express frank:
“PAID / Wells, Fargo & Co's Express / OVER OUR LINES IN THE UNITED STATES” at top left.

Issued circa 1864–65, this envelope was distributed by Wells Fargo for use on their private express routes across the western United States. The indicium is crisp and well-centered; the express imprint is sharp and complete. No contents. Unsealed flap.

A fine example of 19th-century American express mail history—ideal for exhibit or specialized collection.
