Sammons, James A. Thorton and Alson Bailey and signed by all in the county of La Porte, Indiana for $2,000.00. Benjamin F. Sammons was elected Trustee for the township in Michigan (Indiana). from the reading of the document it would seem the $2,000.00 payment was akin to a surety bond / security / good faith deposit that the newly elected trustee and his administrators will faithfully discharge their duties of office and that if they don't the citizens of the Michigan township in Indiana have recourse. Signed also by John Watters, Auditor. (Scott 2023 Catalog values R49a pair at $300.00, no value given for an on document usage.) Stamps slightly in at left, otherwise 3 wide margins and sound, normal file folds, a couple of small splits at file folds, otherwise light general wear & toning.
