Item Description

The French Postal System of the 19th Century used numeric cancellations to indicate the source of mail. Each village and town had their own respective numeric identifier and number 12 appears to have been in use by Agen, France. The French cancellations are striking in their intricate grid star (and diamonds for some) design with the larger number contained within. The cancellation is the focus of this listing.
