Vintage Canada Poster Stamp Buy Made In Canada Goods! Brandram-Henderson Limited Paint And Coatings Montreal MNH Spot Of Gum Discoloration. This Poster Stamp From Brandram-Henderson Limited Features The Warship H.M.C.S. Niobe, A Royal Canadian Navy Vessel Depicted In Full Profile With Detailed Rigging And Multiple Smokestacks, Serving As A Patriotic Emblem Of Naval Strength And Industrial Support For The War Effort, Framed By The Slogan “Buy Made In Canada Goods!” In Bold Black Text Across The Lower Sky. The Company Name Appears Prominently At The Bottom In Red Block Letters: “Brandram-Henderson Limited,” Along With Its Canadian Offices Listed As “Montreal, Halifax, St. John, Toronto, Winnipeg,” Underscoring Its National Presence And Commitment To Domestic Manufacturing. The H.M.C.S. Niobe Was One Of The First Ships Commissioned Into The Canadian Navy In 1910 And Served During World War I, Making This Stamp Likely Date To Either The WWI Era Or A Later Commemorative Or WWII Revival Of Earlier Imagery Meant To Evoke National Pride, Maritime Defense, And Industrial Participation. This Stamp Likely Promoted The Company's Marine Paints Or Protective Coatings Used On Naval Or Commercial Vessels While Reinforcing The Broader “Buy Canadian” Ethos With A Strong Visual Connection To The Nation’s Military Heritage. HMS Niobe was a ship of the Diadem class of protected cruisers in the Royal Navy. She served in the Boer War and was then given to Canada as the second ship of the newly created Naval Service of Canada as HMCS Niobe. The Naval Service of Canada became the Royal Canadian Navy in August 1911. The ship was nearly lost when she went aground off Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia overnight 30–31 July 1911. Repairs were completed at the end of 1912 and the ship returned to service in late 1914. During the First World War, Niobe patrolled the approaches to the St. Lawrence River and then joined the Royal Navy's 4th Cruiser Squadron to patrol off New York City. The cruiser returned to Halifax, Nova Scotia on 17 July 1915 and never put to sea again. Niobe was paid off in September and served as a depot ship in Halifax. Damaged in the 1917 Halifax Explosion, she was sold for scrap and broken up in the 1920s. Wikipedia
