For Free Gas Masks For The Poor MNH Tiny Black Spot Lower Right SideThis Poster Stamp Was Issued In Hungary By The Légoltalmi Liga (Air Defense League) In Cooperation With The Országos Női Bizottsága (National Women’s Committee) To Raise Funds For Providing Free Gas Masks To The Poor. The Central Image Depicts A Person Wearing A Gas Mask, A Stark And Direct Symbol Of Civilian Protection In An Era When Chemical Warfare Was A Major Concern Following World War I And Leading Into World War II. The national gas mask set (1 mask body, 1 insert, 1 demisting soap or ointment, instructions for use, all in a carrying case) cost 13 pengő in 1938, packed in a cardboard box instead of a carrying case for 11 pengő.
