This business size 2-cent green George Washington Government Stamped Envelope issue of 1887, Scott U311, was mailed from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1894. A scarce Barry Experimental machine cancellation, Type EX-2a, cancels the cover.the Corner Card Reads:
'Return to Receivers of
Richmond & Danville Railroad,
1300 Pennsylvania Avenue,
Box L, Washington, D.C.,
If not delivered within 5 days.'
Cut open right so barely reduced, the backflap is sealed and intact. No contents. Two different Philly receiving circular date stamps verso. Philly cds set off on the front.
