Item Description

This World War 1 YMCA Soldiers Free Mail cover was mailed from the AEF 107th Field Artillery to Pottsville, Pennsylvania in 1918 and was cancelled by a 'U.S. Army P.O. 1' handstamp.

U.S. Army P.O. 1 was at St. Nazaire, Loire, France; established July 10, 1917.

Censor tape right. Rectangular magenta British Censor handstamp. Manuscript censored by 107th Field Artillery so likely not mailed at a U.S. PO.

Cut open top so slightly reduced, the backflap is sealed and intact. Some top edge tears (see scans). Previous owner's pencil notes verso. No contents or backstamps.
