Item Description

This World War II era lithographed picture postcard that depicts the 30th Reggimento Fanteria of the Italian Army and lists its various medals and theaters of operation back to 1911was mailed to Platania, Italy in 1943 franked by a 20c Julius Caesar issue of 1929, Scott 217. The stamp is tied to the card by a double circle handstamp, originating post office unreadable.

The postcard has two views: at left is the 30th infantry in a battle at Sernaglia della Battaglia, Italy in 1918 and at right, fighting at Mount Chenaillet on the Franco-Italian border during 1940. At center is the regimental crest and a battle-worn Italian flag the pole of which separates the two scenes.
