This is a World War II patriotic cover postmarked May 22, 1944 in Connersville, Indiana. Stamp: 3¢ purple commemorative issue (Scott #922), honoring the Completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad (1869–1944 Centennial). Cachet (illustration on the left): Cartoon-style artwork with the caption “EYES RIGHT!” Illustration shows a row of uniformed soldiers standing at attention. Instead of looking at their officer, the soldiers are turning their heads to the right—toward two attractive women walking past (one in red, one in blue). A humorous play on the military drill command “Eyes Right,” suggesting distraction by women rather than discipline. Copyright at the bottom: 1942 by American Art Service. Addressee: Major Williams V.
