A large lot of postage stamps issued for the Italian-occupied Province of Ljubljana (Laibach) in 1941. Overprint: "R. Commissariato / Civile / Territori Sloveni / occupati / LUBIANA" Base Stamps: 1939 King Peter II and 1940 Prince Paul definitive series of Yugoslavia. Additional Features: The lot includes two different surcharge types on the 0.50d orange stamp. Historical Context Following the invasion of Yugoslavia by Axis forces in April 1941, Italy annexed the southern part of Slovenia, establishing the "Provincia di Lubiana" (Province of Ljubljana). For postal use within this new province, Italian authorities overprinted existing stocks of Yugoslavian definitive stamps. The overprint translates to "Royal Civil Commissariat of the Occupied Slovene Territories of Ljubljana." Combined Shipping We offer combined shipping.
