1922 Bethany Jerusalem, Palestine Original Vintage Postcard sent to Mr. and Mrs. F. Hartz in Pittsburgh, PA. Bethany, Arabic Al-ʿAyzariyyah , small village and biblical site on the eastern slopes of the Mount of Olives just outside Jerusalem, situated in the West Bank. Under Jordanian control from 1949 to 1967 Bethany became part of the West Bank territory under Israeli occupation following the Six-Day War of 1967 and later came under the control of the Palestinian Authority in the wake of the 1993 Oslo Accords. Bethany is widely visited by Christian pilgrims.
