  • I'll try to do some unwanted penance. I know many here wish I was more fluent in silence, but the days of that hope along with good grammar has went.
  • Samantha (alias Petey) in the foreground. Raymo passed out next to the toilet.

I'm sorry to report that Benny was not able to make his permanent home with us. He was a fun and friendly(to humans) pup from the time he got up in the morning until about sundown, around 4:30PM. Once the sun set, Benny got mean and defensive. It was to the point where he would growl at Raymo and chase him away and he would bite me. He bit me a few times. He would try to bite my hand and when I would pull it away, he would come at me and bit me on the arm or leg. He wasn't just saying, "Get away!" I think he must have been traumatized. We couldn't have it as we babysit our granddaughter twice a week and can't chance having her get bit. So, unfortunately, he went back to the foster home. He is back up for adoption but only to a home without other pets or children.
  • Sorry to hear that. Been there before. Nice Ferguson BTW!
  • Ron,

Anybody know how the IRS regards "fair market value" establishment of an inherited collection (without receipts or paper trail).

On this I had to deal with this earlier this year. What the courts are looking for first is the total amount of assets which will pass into probate. (In Wisconsin if the estate is classified as a small estate assets under $50,000 I am not sure how they figure out the assets. Once the estate passes that threshold all the assets must be accounted for via an appraisal of the assets for fair market value on the date of death. That is summited to the court and is kept in their files.) That would be the documentation that would be needed for the IRS.

  • John, we had an old red dog (Chow/Heeler mix mutt) years ago who bit me once when he decided to go on a walkabout. Snagged a fang in the back of my hand when I caught him. Got him back home and I turned around and took a chomp out of one of his legs. That old red dog never even thought about biting me again. But I do get it with young uns around. Not worth the risk.
  • Thanks Michael, that addresses the inheritance aspect. What might a seller do to establish a basis for an item sold here where that item was purchased, say, 15 years ago as a collector at a stamp show for cash without obtaining a receipt (common transactions back then)? Can one recreate a reasonable basis for tax purposes using a ballpark purchase date, the scott's catalog price at that time, and figuring on having paid 50% of that price as a fair market value, for instance?
  • Wonder what the statute of limitations is on that... I never claimed that bottle of liquid paper I 5 finger discounted back in 1985.
  • Sorry been gone I'll be back more the new year work has been amazing this holiday season so grinding out those Doordash orders 7 days a week 12-16 hours daily then break period for recouping you can say that is why I been lacking this December in my store n forum posts but hey here's to the new year's may we all learn more then we did this year and this hobby continues to be fun.

Congrats to Rene! And to Greg, who revived the legacy of the Punctuites and the Paragraphian empire, previously hidden within the extra biblical books "The Apostrica". Not to forget his reference to Commasaurus with its one clawed footprints; a box of which he has promised to send to Brett for immediate usage.

And to Ted, emeritus, whom like fishermen we wait with baited breath for his next Ted Talk, perhaps concerning the real story behind the US 231 "broken hat" variety....if he dare. I hear Guido, fact checker for Hipstamp, is ready to sanitize any disclosure that tarnishes Columbus's heroic image. A tease would involve Chris's vow to "eat my hat if" and the shape of said hat with the signature slice removed; a meat lover's fare particularly laden with a lot of Italian bologna. Mr. Columbus was wise enough to cover his bet (sanitized).

Sorry, did you say something, Ron? I’m watching The Good the Bad and the Ugly the condensed version right now. (If I can get past the playback error.)

  • Was there an insinuation regarding the three of us, Greg, in Ted's reference to the Good, the Bad and the Ugly?
  • Nah, mainly just men with broken hats.
  • A broken haat may just be Texan for a hurt heart - hence the lyrics "you just sorta stepped on my aorta, and mashed that sucker flat"
  • A broken haat is more of a Baahston thing. In Texas, we mostly have broken ha-yets. Two different things. In Paris, TX they have broken chapeaus. In Milan, TX they have broken capellos. In Moscow, TX they have many broken shapkas. And in Iraan, TX they have broken کلاه even though the town is pronounced Ira Ann after combining the names of the owners of the ranch under which the massive Yates Oil Field was discovered in 1926.

Was that when the Yates family quietly changed their name to Gates? And we must not forget Bandera, TX with sombreros roto.
  • I don't think so but Iraan was also the home of V.T. Hamlin who created the Alley Oop cartoon character. It's a wild place with very few people out west of the middle of nowhere. A LOT of freaking oil came out of there though.

Hard to fathom that much biogenic oil. Are we able to see that process in various stages operative today? And how does that account for Olive Oyl? We know Popeye was a product of spinichification.
  • Comment section on pause as Greg dons his wolverine outfit.
  • Damn! This don't even look like Kansas!......
  • SOP. Underwear inside out. Two different socks. Shaved half the moustache off (left half). Maize and Blue sweatshirt on (85 degrees here). Flag flying. Cats fed. Beer cold. Wife quilting. Just about ready.
  • Such prep ought to be immortalized on a stamp
