Agree with Luree and Jerry.Too bad they don't have moderators like all the other forums I am on. People ask questions because they don't know. - not to be made fun of. THINK WHAT YOU ARE DOING - GROW UP.

And now I suppose I am the one who has to go sit in the corner for a lengthy time out.
  • Ok Carol, I apologised and other(s) did too. Nobody was making fun of anyone. Just got off track a little. Relax. It's not the end of days here...just CTO's.
  • Bob, Scott does make a listing for CTO stamps, you just have to read the footnotes.
  • Greg- just took my chill pill, thanks
  • Scott does not list CTO values for all CTOs, just some, and for some countries. There are no CTO listing distinctions for US stamps. The CTO seems almost "cultural" as to whether they see premiums over used, vice-versa, or are just considered as used values. Regardless of that status, a CTO IS considered a used stamp in all circumstances, gummed or not. Those conditions will determine the overall value of a CTO.
  • To get back to the original question:
Wayne, did you buy your Cuban stamps from Mystic? They sell "Castro's Cuba" year sets that they describe as used, but are CTOs. They also mention the embargo in their advertising despite it not being an issue for years now.
They make for an attractive collection and Mystic provides buyers with albums and pages.
    But they are CTOs.
Postally used, Post-Revolution Cuban stamps are hard to come by. However, you can buy Mint examples of Cuban stamps right here on HipStamp. I have made several purchase from a dealer in Canada, Mer's Stamps, and can recommend them.
  • Dunes were issued without gum because they were printed, postmark already part of the design, and never intended for postal use. Why spend the money to apply gum if they were intended for dealer packets? Later CTOs were regularly printed stamps, cancelled later on in the process, that were fully gummed because they were part of the post office's regular stock.
  • Thanks John Maloney - Yes, I did purchase the Cuban stamps from Mystic. I also have purchased several used Cuban stamps from other dealers as well, and I enjoy them more than the Mystic stamps. If I knew that the Cuban stamps from Mystic were CTOs I probably wouldn't have purchased them. Also, thanks for the dealer in Canada "Mer's Stamps" I will view their website.
