Item Description

Chan'# JC51b with CV$25. The basic stamp is Dah Tung Pt SYS issued in 1940, Perf 12.5 by Chunghwa Book Co in 1941. This item is in very fine MNH condition.
There is a story described in Chan's Book:
Hong Kong was occupied by Japanese after the outbreak of Pacific War in 1941. The Japanese sent the printed but not yet perforated stamps from all the printing houses to Chung Hwa Book Co. to have perforation 12.50 Later these stamps were transferred to the puppet government in Shanghai for surcharges. After the victory of the anti-Japanese War, the remaining un-surcharged stamps, with exception of a few leakage to the stamp-collectors, were surcharged with “National Currency” for issue. It was also found that some of the stamps of the Dah Tung Print were perforated 13.50

自1941年太平洋戰爭爆發後, 日軍佔領香港. 日人將香港各廠印就而未打孔的郵票均交由中華書局打12.50齒孔, 然後運至上海偽政府, 以供加蓋暫售票用, 抗戰勝利後猶有部份用作加蓋國幣票. 未加蓋的粗齒票僅有少數流入集郵者手中. 此組郵票亦有發現有13.50齒孔者.
