  • Here in Australia a Post Office buys a stamp from Australia Post at 57% of face value. Thing is they cannot sell it back to APO if unsold. Unless one asks to have a stamp fixed to the item being posted a printed label is attached, hence no cost to t…
  • Robert, probably, I don't know. Different culture ?

  • Junk Dealers, all I can say is one persons trash is another persons treasure
  • Steve, I am the same, but on the other side of the World. Australia. Oz, New Zealand, Papua NG, close to home, standard shipping. International, standard/economy airmail - US, Canada, Germany, GB, etc a bit more $ Like I have said previously, if one…
  • I agree with Doug and Mark, a picture is wort a 1000 words
  • I placed an order and stupid me said how happy I was to get Australian stamps cancelled in Papua, which was legal at that time, guess what, the seller could not find the item listed that I purchased. Such is life

  • John Coles, what sort of an idiot would put up items like that, maybe we should educate the unaware, it could be that the seller is unaware of quality and format. Who Knows. sam931
  • And why would you, or why would anyone else. Not all sellers on HipStamps are Dealers though. Just because one has a store does not mean they are a stamp dealer. I have a store, but I am not a stamp dealer, I am have a hobby, I luv stamps. I only li…

  • 30 years ago I purchased from a dealer in Sydney, Australia FDC's at 30% of face value. Soaked the stamps off and sold them as fine used. Now lets say 30 years ago ONE cover had a face value of $1-00, I paid 30 cents, what did the seller get? Bugger…

  • Michael, dealers pay absolutely nothing near catalog value. They have to sell at around 30% of full catalog, or we would not buy from them, would we? So I would say the most they would pay is 10%

  • Michael, NO, Dealers pay bugger all, if anything. I purchased today Lord Of The Rings NZ$200 for AUD$70 What did the seller get, I'll bet not much more than AUD$20 Dealers travel all over the world to exhibitions, whatever, etc. Their business pays …
  • I really think it is an individual process. We all collect different formats over time. So at some time I do not want what I collected 5 years ago or so(maybe 10). Thing is let it go to add dollars to my current obsession. Something that all must l…

  • On another point, catalog value means nothing, try getting a dealer to pay even half catalog. Any collector that thinks that the stamps they have worth a sell-able price at Scott, or any other Cat. listed price, dream on
  • Hi Carol, I understand what you are saying. Watermarks, no idea. $10 is about 2 glasses of beer here in Australia. Obviously no one wanted to spend the cost of a couple of beers. You are trying to be helpful, no problem with that, much appreciated S…
  • I can see where you are all coming from, I understand what you are saying. Bottom line is, and don't get upset with me, if one wants to make money from postage, Buy a Post Office/Shop
  • Elizabeth, Quote"Here in Australia we HAVE to use International Postage stamps"End Quote That is incorrect. The international Postage Stamps have no GST. So how I get around this is add 10% to the postage cost. So an item sent to the US at 50 grams …
  • I post all over the world, not only HipStamps. I am in Australia, nothing has ever gone missing. One thing one does not do is make the envelope look like a pretty Christmas Tree, keep it simple, no one will take any notice off it. Photos enclosed, d…
  • For me, if you buy 1 stamp, or what ever is for sale, you can buy/add more with NO extra cost in postage. I think this is the right thing to do. We are collectors of Philatelic items. I think it is great that a collector would want to buy some more …

  • Now before somebody gets on the bandwagon and says, "well who the hell would want your stamps anyway" That's not the question. Question is " if one puts an item/items up for auction. At an auction buy price that is a good listing price, to encourag…
